Compare the2025 Acura ZDXVS 2025 Cadillac Lyriq

Both the ZDX and the Lyriq have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Acura ZDX is safer than the Cadillac Lyriq:

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the ZDX’s reliability 25 points higher than the Lyriq.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2024 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Acura vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Acura above average in initial quality. With 21 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Acura vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Acura 16 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

The ZDX has more powerful engines than the Lyriq:

On the EPA test cycle the ZDX A-Spec AWD gets better mileage than the Lyriq w/19.2 kW charging (94 city/80 hwy vs. 93 city/77 hwy MPGe).

The ZDX A-Spec AWD can travel longer on a full charge than the Lyriq w/19.2 kW charging (304 miles vs. 303 miles).

For better stopping power the ZDX Type S’ front brake rotors are larger than those on the Lyriq:

The ZDX has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Lyriq doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The ZDX offers an available driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The Lyriq’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The ZDX Type S handles at .85 G’s, while the Lyriq pulls only .80 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The ZDX Type S executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1.3 seconds quicker than the Lyriq Luxury AWD (25.1 seconds @ .75 average G’s vs. 26.4 seconds @ .71 average G’s).

The ZDX has 9.6 inches more front hip room, .1 inches more front shoulder room and 12.3 inches more rear hip room than the Lyriq.

The ZDX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the Lyriq with its rear seat up (29.7 vs. 28 cubic feet). The ZDX has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the Lyriq with its rear seat folded (63 vs. 60.8 cubic feet).

The ZDX’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Lyriq’s (3500 vs. 0 pounds).

The ZDX Type S has a standard heads-up display that projects speed, warning, navigation instruction, infotainment and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the ZDX has a standard rear wiper. The Lyriq doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The ZDX’s headlights were rated “Good” by the IIHS, while the Lyriq’s headlights are rated “Poor.”

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the ZDX to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The Lyriq doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.
