The Silverado HD has standard driver and passenger side airbags combined with three-point seat belts, a combination which is 29% more effective in preventing injury and death than seatbelts alone.

To maximize occupant safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Chevrolet Silverado HD have pretensioners to eliminate dangerous slack in the event of a collision and force limiters to limit the pressure the belts will exert on the passengers.

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Chevrolet Silverado HD are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up.

The Silverado HD Double Cab has shoulder harnesses for all passengers. Shoulder harnesses are 10% more effective than lap belts in preventing injuries from collisions. Recent studies indicate that lap belts alone may cause as many or more injuries than they prevent.

The Silverado HD has standard child safety locks to prevent children from opening the rear doors.

In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Silverado HD are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out.

The Silverado HD Crew Cab Pickup’s rear seat is safe for a rear facing infant safety seat and the Silverado HD’s passenger side airbag has a weight sensor switch to disable it.

The Silverado HD has standard front seat side-impact airbags and head airbags for both seat rows, which act as a forgiving barrier between the passengers and the door. Combined with high-strength steel door beams this system increases protection from broadside collisions.

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the Silverado HD deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. Airbags without smart features will always deploy full force.

The Silverado HD has standard four-wheel antilock disc brakes for quicker stops and controlled steering ability, especially under poor traction conditions.

The Silverado HD has standard Automatic Emergency Braking, which use forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether.

The Silverado HD offers all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow.

To prevent wheel-spin and loss of control under poor traction conditions, full range traction control is standard on the Chevrolet Silverado HD.

The Silverado HD has standard StabiliTrak®, which uses the antilock brake hardware along with powerful software and additional sensors to detect the beginning of a skid. StabiliTrak® then intervenes by automatically applying the brake at one appropriate wheel, preventing a skid.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Silverado HD 4WD’s optional Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely.

The Chevrolet Silverado HD has Daytime Running Lights to help keep it more visible under all conditions. Canadian government studies show that driving with lights during the day reduces accidents by 11% by making vehicles more conspicuous.

The Silverado HD’s lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane.

The Silverado HD offers optional Park Assist to help warn drivers about vehicles, pedestrians or other obstacles behind or in front of their vehicle. The Silverado HD also has a standard backup monitor to help drivers see any and all obstacles behind their vehicle, and an optional (except WT/Custom) HD Surround Vision to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle.

Equipped with a front camera washer, the Chevrolet Silverado HD’s optional HD Surround Vision delivers all-weather visibility.

The Silverado HD’s optional blind spot warning system uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Silverado HD’s optional Rear Cross Traffic Alert uses sensors in the rear to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions.

The Silverado HD has standard OnStar®, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to get turn-by-turn driving directions, remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. Without a GPS response system, if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

The Chevrolet Silverado HD’s engines use a cast iron block for durability, Aluminum engine blocks are much more prone to warp and crack at high temperatures than cast iron.

In the Chevrolet Silverado HD, the optional 6.6 turbo V8 diesel has a gear driven camshaft to prevent engine damage from a broken camshaft belt or chain. Gears don’t exert side forces against the camshaft that can wear the cam bearings.

The other engines in the Silverado HD use hardened steel camshaft chains, with no maintenance needs. Some camshafts are driven by a rubber belt that needs periodic replacement, if cam drive belt breaks the engine could be severely damaged when the pistons hit the opened valves.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the Silverado HD has a standard 170-amp alternator (220-amp - Silverado HD optional and 390 optional).

To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the Silverado HD has a standard 720-amp battery (1460 diesel).

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Silverado HD second among large heavy duty pickups in their 2025 Initial Quality Study.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are above average in initial quality. Chevrolet has 14 fewer problems per 100 vehicles than average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are above average in dependability. Chevrolet has 33 fewer problems per 100 vehicles than average.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Chevrolet Silverado HD uses regular unleaded gasoline. Mid-grade can cost on average 49.8 cents more than regular, and premium can cost on average 84.9 cents more.

The Silverado HD Regular Cab Diesel’s standard fuel tank has 28 gallons of fuel capacity, for longer range between fill-ups. The Silverado HD Gas Engine/Crew Cab Diesel’s standard fuel tank has 36 gallons more fuel capacity.

The Silverado HD has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution.

For more complete vehicle control the Silverado HD has a manually controlled automatic, with the available convenience of an automatic transmission and the complete gear control of a manual transmission without the inconvenience of a clutch. A manually controlled automatic allows the driver to eliminate unwanted shifts and maximize engine braking by down shifting while cornering.

A 10-speed automatic is standard on the Chevrolet Silverado HD, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway.

For better traction, the Silverado HD has large 245/75R17 standard tires. The Silverado 2500 HD Standard Bed ZR2 Crew Cab Pickup’s tires are larger 305/70R18.

The Silverado HD’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a low 75 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall. The Silverado HD LT/LTZ/High Country’s optional tires have a lower 60 series profile.

For better load carrying, ride, handling and brake cooling the Silverado HD has standard 17-inch wheels. The Silverado HD LT/LTZ/High Country offers optional 22-inch wheels.

The Chevrolet Silverado HD’s wheels have 8 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength.

The Silverado HD has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure.

The Silverado HD has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your work or a trip. A temporary spare tire has mileage, speed and weight limitations. If a vehicle has no spare tire you are forced to repair the tire and if that fails you will have to call roadside assistance and get towed. Even run-flats can fail if they are sufficiently damaged.

The Chevrolet Silverado HD’s independent front suspension is much lighter than a solid front axle, which allows the Silverado HD’s wheels to react more quickly and accurately to the road’s surface, improving both ride and handling.

The Silverado HD has a standard front stabilizer bar, which help keep the Silverado HD flat and controlled during cornering.

The Silverado HD has standard power steering to make quick and controllable low speed maneuvers easy.

The Silverado HD ZR2/LTZ/High Country has vehicle speed sensitive variable-assist power steering, for low-effort parking, better control at highway speeds and during hard cornering, and a better feel of the road.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Silverado HD’s wheelbase is long:

A standard locking glovebox, available locking center console and standard locking underseat storage drawer (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the Silverado HD.

To prevent tailgate loss and help secure heavier cargo from theft, the Silverado HD has a standard tailgate lock cylinder.

The Chevrolet Silverado HD offers an optional EZ Lift-and-Lower Tailgate, which prevents the heavy tailgate from falling with a crash and causing injury. It allows adults and children to easily open and close the tailgate with one hand to better facilitate loading and unloading.

The Chevrolet Silverado HD has a standard CornerStep, which allows for much easier access to the cargo area.

The Silverado HD has stake post holes, to allow the containment of tall, light loads.

To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier, especially for short adults, the Silverado HD (except WT/Custom) offers an optional power cargo door, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button.

The Silverado HD uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. A prop rod supporting a heavy hood takes two hands to open the hood and set, it gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

The engine in the Silverado HD is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

An Oil Life Monitor is standard on the Silverado HD to save the owner time and money by calculating maintenance intervals for oil changes, air filter replacement, and brake pad replacement, based on actual driving conditions. This takes the guesswork out of keeping your vehicle in top condition and helps it last longer.

The Silverado HD’s entire steering wheel hub sounds the horn, facilitating hitting the horn in an emergency.

The Silverado HD (except WT) offers a remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior.

The engine computer on the Silverado HD automatically engages the starter until the car starts with one twist of the key and disables the starter while the engine is running. Without this feature the starter can be accidentally engaged while the engine is running, making a grinding noise and possibly damaging the starter and ring gear.

The Silverado HD’s standard tilting steering column adjusts to different sized drivers and makes entering and exiting easier.

To help each driver find a more comfortable driving position, the Silverado HD (except WT/Custom) offers a telescoping steering wheel. Much better than just a tilt steering wheel or adjustable seat, this allows a short driver to sit further from the steering wheel while maintaining contact with the pedals.

When two different drivers share the Silverado HD ZR2/LTZ/High Country, the memory seats and mirrors make it convenient for both. Each setting activates different, customized memories for the driver’s seat position and outside mirror angle.

The Silverado HD ZR2/LTZ/High Country’s standard easy entry system glides the driver’s seat back when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out.

The Silverado HD’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done.

The Silverado HD (except WT/Custom/LT) offers an available heads-up display that projects speed, warning, navigation instruction, infotainment and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road.

The Silverado HD’s power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically.

The Silverado HD’s standard power windows allow the driver or passenger to lower and raise the windows without leaning over or being distracted.

The Silverado HD’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children in the rear seat from operating them, but the driver can still raise and lower all of them with the lock engaged.

The Silverado HD’s standard front and rear power windows all open fully with one touch of the switches and its driver’s window also automatically closes, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car.

The Silverado HD’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access.

On a hot day the Silverado HD’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote.

The Silverado HD’s standard power locks allow the driver or passenger to lock or unlock all the doors at a touch without leaning over.

The Silverado HD’s power locks have a lockout prevention feature. When the key is in the ignition or smart key is in the passenger compartment and the driver’s door is open, the locks unlock every time you lock them.

The Silverado HD’s standard doors lock when the transmission is engaged. This is an important feature for occupant safety. Locked doors are proven to open less often in collisions, and they are also effective in preventing crime at traffic lights.

Push Button Start standard on the Silverado HD allows you to start the engine without removing the key from the pocket or purse. The Silverado HD LT/ZR2/LTZ/High Country’s available Keyless Open and Start also allows you to unlock the doors from either front outside door handle and unlock the tailgate.

The Silverado HD’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night.

The Silverado HD’s standard variable intermittent wipers have an adjustable delay to allow the driver to choose a setting that best clears the windshield during light rain or mist. The Silverado HD ZR2/LTZ/High Country’s standard wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically according to the amount of rainfall on the windshield.

The Silverado HD’s optional LED headlights produce a whiter, brighter light (up to 3x) using five times less power than halogen headlights. LED lights also light instantly and last over twenty times longer than halogen.

The Silverado HD has a standard automatic headlight on/off feature. When the ignition is on, the headlights automatically turn on at dusk and off after dawn.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the Silverado HD detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams.

The Silverado HD’s standard side window demisters help clear frost or condensation from the side windows in the winter. Without side window demisters the driver may have to wipe the windows from the outside to gain side vision.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Silverado HD has standard extendable sun visors.

The Silverado HD’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows.

The Silverado HD offers optional power remote mirrors. Without a remote driver side or passenger side mirror, the driver will have to roll down the windows and reach across the car to adjust the mirrors.

The Silverado HD’s optional outside mirrors include heating elements to clear off the mirrors for better visibility.

The Silverado HD’s optional power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access.

When the Silverado HD ZR2/LTZ/High Country is put in reverse, both rearview mirrors tilt from their original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirrors into their original positions.

The Silverado HD’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver.

Unlike fixed side view mirrors, the Chevrolet Silverado HD offers optional power folding mirrors that offer unparalleled convenience while maneuvering in tight places or parked. With the mirrors folded it’s easier to walk past and help prevent parking damage. The mirrors can be quickly unfolded when the driver is ready to leave. Manual folding mirrors are standard.

The Silverado HD (except WT/Custom) offers optional heated front and rear seats (rear heaters not available on WT/Custom/LT) extremely comfortable in the winter.

Optional air-conditioned seats in the Silverado HD (except WT/Custom/LT) keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer.

On extremely cold winter days, the Silverado HD’s optional (except WT/Custom) heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the vehicle heater warms up.

The Silverado HD has a standard center folding armrest for the driver and front passenger. A center armrest helps combat driver fatigue.

The Silverado HD offers an optional center folding armrest for the rear passengers. A center armrest helps make rear passengers more comfortable and it can provide a boundary between children.

The Silverado HD (except W/T/Custom)’s optional dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible.

The Silverado HD (except W/T/Custom)’s optional automatic temperature control maintains the temperature you set, automatically controlling fan speed, vents and temperature to maintain a consistent, comfortable environment.

For greater rear passenger comfort, the Silverado HD Double Cab/Crew Cab has standard rear a/c vents to keep rear occupants more comfortable.

A built-in pollen filter removes pollen, exhaust fumes and other pollutants from the Silverado HD’s passenger compartment. This helps prevent lung and/or sinus irritation that can trigger allergies or asthma.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Silverado HD offers an optional Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic.

To help keep the driver’s hands on the wheel, the Silverado HD LT/ZR2/LTZ/High Country has standard steering wheel controls for the radio.

Standard smartphone integration for the Silverado HD allows the driver and passengers access to select programs on their smartphones, including reading text messages aloud, playing internet radio stations and other connected activities without taking their eyes off the road or their hands from the wheel.

To direct the driver from any location to a given street address, a GPS navigation system is standard on the Silverado HD LT/ZR2/LTZ/High Country. The Silverado HD’s navigation system also has a real-time traffic update feature that offers alternative routes to automatically bypass traffic problems. (Service not available in all areas.)

With standard voice command, the Silverado HD LT/ZR2/LTZ/High Country offers the driver hands free control of the radio, climate controls and the navigation computer by simply speaking.

The Chevrolet Silverado HD (except WT/Custom) eliminates the need for separate garage door openers and associated risks of losing, breaking, or having dead batteries with its optional integrated Homelink® universal remote controlled from the overhead console.

The Silverado HD is equipped with both FM and AM stereo radios, offering access to more content and better coverage. With AM radio, you can enjoy a wider variety of stations featuring news, talk shows, sports commentary, native language programing, automated traffic guidance, and emergency broadcasts. AM waves travel further and penetrate buildings and obstacles more effectively than FM signals, especially at night. Having both FM and AM stereo radios the Silverado HD offers a more comprehensive listening experience compared to only FM.

Compared to traditional radio, the Chevrolet Silverado HD Custom/LT/ZR2/LTZ/High Country equipped with standard SiriusXM satellite radio provides an unmatched listening experience. Its extensive coverage guarantees consistent, crystal-clear reception across the continental U.S., and access to over 100 channels dedicated to a multitude of genres, including music, news, sports, talk shows, and comedy, many with only limited commercial breaks.

Bluetooth wireless connectivity is standard on the Silverado HD, connecting the driver and passenger’s cell phones to the vehicle systems. This allows them to use the vehicle’s stereo and hand controls to place calls safely and easily.

The Silverado HD offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet in the cargo area, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced.
